Summons of Baka and the Tree-Weapon Engagement
तच्छुत्वा भीमसेनस्य मातृस्नेहात् प्रजल्पितम् । कारुण्येन मनस्तप्तं गमनायोपचक्रमे
tac chrutvā bhīmasenasya mātṛsnehāt prajalpitam | kāruṇyena manas taptaṃ gamanāyopacakrame ||
Wika ni Vaiśampāyana: “Nang marinig ni Bhīmasena ang mga salitang iyon—salitang binitiwan ng ina sa pag-ibig na pangmagulang—napuno ng habag ang kaniyang dibdib at nag-alab ang dalamhati sa loob. Agad siyang naghanda upang siya mismo ang umalis (upang kumuha ng tubig).”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how genuine affection and compassion can move a person from mere feeling to immediate, selfless action—choosing to bear hardship oneself rather than letting a loved one suffer.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that, upon hearing Bhīmasena’s emotionally charged words spoken from maternal-like affection, the mother’s heart fills with compassion; distressed, she prepares to go herself to fetch water.
