तस्य ज्यातलनिर्घोषं द्रोण: शुश्राव भारत । उपेत्य चैनमुत्थाय परिष्वज्येदमब्रवीत्‌,भारत! उनके धनुषकी प्रत्यंचाका टंकार द्रोणने सोते समय सुना। तब वे उठकर उनके पास गये और उन्हें हृदयसे लगाकर बोले

tasya jyātalanirghoṣaṃ droṇaḥ śuśrāva bhārata | upetya cainam utthāya pariṣvajyedam abravīt ||

Sinabi ni Vaiśaṃpāyana: O Bhārata, narinig ni Droṇa—kahit siya’y nakahiga at natutulog—ang malakas na pag-ugong ng tali ng busog. Agad siyang bumangon, lumapit kay Arjuna, niyakap ito nang mainit, at nagsalita ng mga salitang ito—hudyat ng pagsang-ayon at mapagmahal na pagkilala sa kahandaang pandigma ng alagad.
