Ādi Parva, Adhyāya 113 — Maryādā-sthāpana (Śvetaketu’s Boundary) and the Niyoga Deliberation of Pāṇḍu and Kuntī
श्रूयते भवतः साध्वी स्वसा माद्री यशस्विनी । तामहं वरयिष्यामि पाण्डोरथ्थें यशस्विनीम्,'सुना है, तुम्हारी एक यशस्विनी बहिन है, जो बड़े साधु स्वभावकी है; उसका नाम माद्री है। मैं उस यशस्विनी माद्रीका अपने पाण्डुके लिये वरण करता हूँ
śrūyate bhavataḥ sādhvī svasā mādrī yaśasvinī | tām ahaṁ varayiṣyāmi pāṇḍor arthe yaśasvinīm ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “Nabalitaan na ang iyong kapatid na babae ay mabuti ang asal at tanyag, na ang pangalan ay Mādrī. Pinipili ko ang bantog na Mādrī bilang mapapangasawa ni Pāṇḍu.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
