Suta Goswami (narrating the Linga Purana to the sages at Naimisharanya)
It links worship of Shiva as Lakulīśvara (the Pāśupata-guru form) with the attainment of liberating jñāna, presenting devotion and right knowledge together as the means for the paśu to be freed from pāśa.
Shiva is identified as Devadeveśa (sovereign over all divine powers) and Sarvajña (omniscient), indicating Pati-tattva: the supreme Lord who alone can bestow the knowledge that dissolves bondage.
Worship (pūjā/upāsanā) of Lakulīśvara is emphasized, implying the Pāśupata orientation where devotion to the guru-form of Shiva culminates in jñāna that grants mokṣa.
