अध्याय १०१: हैमवती-तपः, तारकवंश-उत्पातः, स्कन्द-प्रत्याशा, मदनदहनम्

सूत उवाच सा मेनातनुम् आश्रित्य स्वेच्छयैव वराङ्गना तदा हैमवती जज्ञे तपसा च द्विजोत्तमाः

sūta uvāca sā menātanum āśritya svecchayaiva varāṅganā tadā haimavatī jajñe tapasā ca dvijottamāḥ

Sinabi ni Sūta: O pinakamainam sa mga dalawang-ulit na isinilang, ang marangal na ginang na yaon—sa sarili niyang kalooban—ay sumilong sa katawan ni Menā; at noon ay isinilang si Haimavatī (Pārvatī), anak ni Himavān, na iniluwal sa pamamagitan ng tapas (mahigpit na pag-aayuno at pagninilay).
