Śrāddha-vidhi for Pitṛs: Invitations, Purity, Offerings, and Conduct

यज्ञोपवीतिना होमः कर्तव्यः कुशपाणिना / प्राचीनावीतिना पित्र्यं वैश्वदेवं तु होमवत्

yajñopavītinā homaḥ kartavyaḥ kuśapāṇinā / prācīnāvītinā pitryaṃ vaiśvadevaṃ tu homavat

Ang homa ay dapat isagawa habang suot ang sagradong sinulid sa wastong paraan (upavīta) at may hawak na damong kuśa. Ngunit ang ritwal para sa mga ninuno (pitrya) ay dapat gawin na nakasuot ang sinulid sa baligtad na paraan (prācīnāvīta); at ang handog na Vaiśvadeva ay isinasagawa tulad ng homa.
