FAQs

Indirectly: by prescribing Oṃ (praṇava) at the start, the verse anchors ritual action in the sacred sound identified with Brahman/Īśvara; the act of tarpaṇa becomes a disciplined offering performed with remembrance of the supreme principle rather than as mere social custom.

The verse highlights mantra-discipline and mindful sequencing (Oṃ at the beginning, namo at the end). This is a basic yogic frame for karma—consecrating action through praṇava and reverential closure—supporting later contemplative teachings (including Pāśupata-oriented practice) by purifying intention and attention.

It does not name Śiva or Viṣṇu directly, but it reflects the Purāṇic synthesis by grounding ritual in praṇava and namaskāra—universal markers of Īśvara-bhakti that can be directed to the one Supreme who is praised in both Śaiva and Vaiṣṇava idioms within the Kurma Purana.
