Nārāyaṇa’s Impartiality, Absorption in Kṛṣṇa, and the Jaya–Vijaya Descent
Prelude to Prahlāda’s History
एवं शप्तौ स्वभवनात् पतन्तौ तौ कृपालुभि: । प्रोक्तौ पुनर्जन्मभिर्वां त्रिभिर्लोकाय कल्पताम् ॥ ३९ ॥
evaṁ śaptau sva-bhavanāt patantau tau kṛpālubhiḥ proktau punar janmabhir vāṁ tribhir lokāya kalpatām
Kaya nito, sina Jaya at Vijaya, na isinumpa ng mga rishi, ay nahuhulog mula sa kanilang tahanan; sinabi ng mga mahabaging rishi: “O mga bantay-pinto, matapos ang tatlong kapanganakan, matatapos ang sumpa at makababalik kayo sa inyong tungkulin sa Vaikuṇṭha.”
This verse states that although they were cursed and fell from their abode, the merciful sages assured them they would become qualified to return after three births.
Because the sages were compassionate; even while upholding the consequence of the offense, they granted a remedy—three births after which the gatekeepers could return to the Lord’s world.
Even when consequences must be faced, the Bhagavatam emphasizes compassion and a path of rectification—accepting responsibility while keeping spiritual return and transformation as the goal.
