Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Mantra","secondary_vidya":"Dharmashastra","practical_application":"Agnihotra/homa offering protocol: classify offered items (gandha etc.) and present with Gāyatrī; then recite Pauruṣa-sūkta and use it for oblations—standardizing mantra for havis-arpana.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Sāvitrī-nivedana and Pauruṣa-sūkta Homa-prayoga","lookup_keywords":["Sāvitrī","Gāyatrī","Pauruṣa-sūkta","homa","nivedana"],"quick_summary":"Offer items like fragrance using the Sāvitrī (Gāyatrī) formula; then recite the Pauruṣa-sūkta and employ that same hymn for the fire-offering (juhuyāt)."}

Concept: Yajña aligns micro-acts (offering dravya) with macro-order (Puruṣa as cosmic totality); mantra is the bridge between act and meaning.

Application: In domestic/temple homa, keep a fixed mantra-sequence: Gāyatrī for nivedana, then Pauruṣa-sūkta for japa and the corresponding āhuti to maintain ritual coherence.

Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi / Agnihotra and Mantra-prayoga (Vedic ritual procedure)

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Sandhi Resolution Notes:

FAQs

It prescribes a specific mantra-procedure: offerings like fragrances are to be formally presented with the Sāvitrī (Gāyatrī) formula, followed by recitation of the Pauruṣa-sūkta, and the same hymn is used for the homa oblation.

It demonstrates the text’s practical ritual handbook style—linking offering-substances, classification markers, and precise Vedic mantras (Sāvitrī and Puruṣa-sūkta) into an executable homa/nivedana protocol.

By aligning offerings with authoritative Vedic mantras, the act is ritually ‘sealed’ (saṃskṛta), aiming at purification, correctness of sacrifice, and merit (puṇya) through properly mantra-consecrated oblations.
