Pacification of Portents
Lord Agni (instructing, as narrator of ritual procedure)

Related Themes: Agni Purana 262 (Pūjā-vidhi: snāna-dāna-prāyaścitta context)
It prescribes a mantra-accompanied offering sequence: after ritual bathing (snāna), offer water-libations (jalāñjali) and flowers to Viṣṇu individually (ekaikayā), emphasizing correct, discrete acts of offering with hymn-recitation.
Alongside theology, the Agni Purana records practical liturgy—step-by-step puja components (snāna, arghya/jalāñjali, puṣpa-dāna) and their stated results—showing its coverage of applied ritual technology, not only narratives.
The verse frames mantra-guided offerings to Viṣṇu as a means of pāpa-kṣaya (sin-destruction): performed after purification, repeated single offerings are said to make the practitioner niṣpāpa and aghahā (a remover of sin).
