Related Themes: Agni Purana: prāyaścitta lists for forbidden foods/acts; āhāra-śuddhi discussions (chapter numbering varies)
It lists specific niṣedhas (prohibitions/restrictions) in āchāra: riding certain animals and consuming particular foods (bird-meat, oil, and kṛśara), typically within a purity/expiation framework.
Alongside theology and ritual, the Agni Purana preserves practical dharma material—detailed conduct and dietary rules—showing its compendium-like coverage of social-religious regulation (ācāra and prāyaścitta).
Such prohibitions function as purity safeguards: avoiding these acts is presented as supporting śauca (ritual cleanliness) and dharmic discipline, while violations generally imply the need for corrective observances (prāyaścitta) to restore purity.
