FAQs

It gives a procedure connected with sound/recitation training: begin with Oṁ, perform a preparatory act with water, make a guiding ‘latā’ mark, and inscribe the vowel-series (svaravarga) on the ground before teaching the prastāva (introductory intonation/prelude).

Alongside theology and ritual, the Agni Purana also preserves technical instruction in Sanskrit learning—phonetics, vowel classification, and structured recitation (prastāva)—showing its scope as a compendium of practical and scholarly disciplines.

Starting with Oṁ and performing orderly preparatory acts frames learning and recitation as a sanctified discipline, emphasizing purity, correct sound, and disciplined practice—key conditions for mantra efficacy and merit.
