The Sarasvata Hymn to Vishnu (Vishnu-Pañjara) and the Redemption of a Rakshasa

प्रातरुत्थाय जप्तव्यं मध्याह्ने ऽह्नक्षये ऽपि वा असंशयं सदा जप्यो जपतां पुष्टिशान्तिदः

prātarutthāya japtavyaṃ madhyāhne 'hnakṣaye 'pi vā asaṃśayaṃ sadā japyo japatāṃ puṣṭiśāntidaḥ

oṃ: sacred syllable invoking the Absolute; hari: Viṣṇu, the remover (of suffering/sin); kṛṣṇa: “the dark/attractive one,” a principal name of Viṣṇu; hṛṣīkeśa: “Lord of the senses” (hṛṣīka + īśa); vāsudeva: “son of Vasudeva,” also the indwelling Supreme; janārdana: “agitator/dispeller of the afflictions of people,” a Viṣṇu epithet; praṇataḥ asmi: “I am bowed down / I prostrate”; jagannātha: “Lord of the world”; pāpa: sin, demerit; vyapohatu: “may (He) remove/drive away completely.”

Narrative voice quoting/continuing a stotra; verse 49 attributes the stotra to Maheśvara speaking to a sage (mune).
