FAQs

The compound can denote a literal confinement location, but in Purāṇic idiom it can also be the locus where a binding (by astra, mantra, or curse) is operative. The surrounding emphasis on astravidhi suggests a restraint requiring technical neutralization.

The great sage’s presence legitimizes the mission and supplies spiritual authority and correct procedure. In many Purāṇic rescues, technical skill (astravidhi) is paired with ṛṣi-guidance to ensure the act is dharmically and ritually sound.

No named river, tīrtha, forest, or region appears in the provided line; it only mentions a generic ‘place of bondage’ (bandhanoddeśa). Additional surrounding verses would be needed to map the site to Vāmana Purāṇa’s geographical catalog.
