Arunika

स खल्वेवं यो विद्वान् सोपनयनादूर्ध्वमेतानि प्राग्वा त्यजेत्। पितरं पुत्रम् अग्निम् उपवीतं कर्म कलत्रं चान्यदपीह यत्। यतयो भिक्षार्थं ग्रामं प्रविशन्ति पाणिपात्रम् उदरपात्रं वा। ॐ हि ॐ हि ॐ हीत्येतदुपनिषदं विन्यसेत्। खल्वेतदुपनिषदं विद्वान् य एवं वेद— पालाशं बैल्वमाश्वत्थमौदुम्बरं दण्डं मौञ्जीं मेखलां यज्ञोपवीतं च त्यक्त्वा शूरो य एवं वेद।

तद्विष्णोः परमं पदं सदा पश्यन्ति सूरयः।

दिवीव चक्षुराततम्।

तद्विप्रासो विपन्यवो जागृवांसः समिन्धते।

विष्णोर्यत्परमं पदमिति।

एवं निर्वाणानुशासनं वेदानुशासनं वेदानुशासनमिति॥५॥

sa khalv evaṁ yo vidvān sopanayanād ūrdhvam etāni prāg vā tyajet | pitaraṁ putram agnim upavītaṁ karma kalatraṁ cānyad apīha yat | yatayo bhikṣārthaṁ grāmaṁ praviśanti pāṇipātram udarapātraṁ vā | oṁ hi oṁ hi oṁ hīty etad upaniṣadaṁ vinyaset | khalv etad upaniṣadaṁ vidvān ya evaṁ veda— pālāśaṁ bailvam āśvattham audumbaraṁ daṇḍaṁ mauñjīṁ mekhalāṁ yajñopavītaṁ ca tyaktvā śūro ya evaṁ veda |

tad viṣṇoḥ paramaṁ padaṁ sadā paśyanti sūrayaḥ |

divīva cakṣur ātatam |

tad viprāso vipanyavo jāgṛvāṁsaḥ samindhate |

viṣṇor yat paramaṁ padam iti |

evaṁ nirvāṇānuśāsanaṁ vedānuśāsanaṁ vedānuśāsanam iti ||5||

ผู้รู้ผู้เข้าใจดังนี้ พึงสละสิ่งเหล่านี้ทั้งหมดหลังอุปนยนะ หรือแม้ก่อนนั้น: บิดา บุตร ไฟ สายศักดิ์สิทธิ์ กรรมพิธี ภรรยา และสิ่งใด ๆ ในโลกนี้ บรรดายติย่อมเข้าหมู่บ้านเพื่อบิณฑบาต โดยถือมือเป็นบาตรหรือถือท้องเป็นบาตร เขาพึงตั้งอุปนิษัทนี้ไว้ว่า “โอม หิ โอม หิ โอม หิ” เมื่อรู้แจ้งอุปนิษัทนี้ดังนี้แล้ว เขาละไม้เท้าที่ทำจากไม้ปะลาศะ บิลวะ อัศวัตถะ หรืออุทุมพร ละเข็มขัดมุญชะและสายศักดิ์สิทธิ์ แล้วเป็นวีรบุรุษทางธรรม “บรรดาฤษีเห็นก้าวอันสูงสุดของวิษณุอยู่เสมอ ดุจดวงตาที่แผ่กว้างในสวรรค์ ก้าวนั้นเหล่าวิประผู้รู้ ผู้ตื่น ผู้มีปัญญา จุดให้สว่าง— ก้าวอันสูงสุดของวิษณุ” ดังนี้คือคำสั่งสอนแห่งนิรวาณะ คือคำสั่งสอนแห่งพระเวท คำสั่งสอนแห่งพระเวท

Indeed, the knower who is thus (instructed) should abandon these either after the initiation (upanayana) or even earlier: father, son, fire, sacred thread, ritual action, wife, and whatever else is here. Renouncers enter a village for alms with the hand as bowl or the belly as bowl. He should set down this Upaniṣad: “Oṁ hi, Oṁ hi, Oṁ hi.” Indeed, knowing this Upaniṣad thus, having abandoned a staff of palāśa, bilva, aśvattha, or udumbara wood, the muñja girdle, and the sacred thread, the hero who knows thus (proceeds). ‘That highest step of Viṣṇu the seers always behold, like an eye extended in heaven. That (step) the inspired, the insightful, the wakeful kindle— that highest step of Viṣṇu.’ Thus is the instruction on nirvāṇa; the instruction of the Veda, the instruction of the Veda.
