Arunika

खल्वहं ब्रह्मसूचनात् सूत्रं ब्रह्मसूत्रमहमेव। विद्वान् त्रिवृत्सूत्रं त्यजेत्। विद्वान् य एवं वेद— संन्यस्तं मया, संन्यस्तं मया, संन्यस्तं मयेति— त्रिरुक्त्वाभयं सर्वभूतेभ्यो (दद्यात्)। मत्तः सर्वं प्रवर्तते। सखामागोपायोजः, सखायोऽसि। इन्द्रस्य वज्रोऽसि, वार्त्रघ्नः। शर्म मे भव, यत्पापं तन्निवारयेति। अनेन मन्त्रेण कृतं वैणवं दण्डं कौपीनं परिग्रहेत्। औषधवदशनमाचरेत्, औषधवदशनं प्राश्नीयात्, यथालाभमश्नीयात्। ब्रह्मचर्यमहिंसा चापरिग्रहं च सत्यं च यत्नेन हे रक्षत हे रक्षत हे रक्षत इति॥३॥

khalv ahaṁ brahmasūcanāt sūtraṁ brahmasūtram aham eva | vidvān trivṛt-sūtraṁ tyajet | vidvān ya evaṁ veda— saṁnyastaṁ mayā, saṁnyastaṁ mayā, saṁnyastaṁ mayeti— trir uktvābhayaṁ sarvabhūtebhyo (dadyāt) | mattaḥ sarvaṁ pravartate | sakhāmāgopāyojaḥ, sakhāyo ’si | indrasya vajro ’si, vārtraghnaḥ | śarma me bhava, yat pāpaṁ tan nivārayeti | anena mantreṇa kṛtaṁ vaiṇavaṁ daṇḍaṁ kaupīnaṁ parigrahet | auṣadhavad aśanam ācaret, auṣadhavad aśanaṁ prāśnīyāt, yathālābham aśnīyāt | brahmacaryam ahiṁsā cāparigrahaṁ ca satyaṁ ca yatnena he rakṣata he rakṣata he rakṣata iti ||3||

แท้จริง ด้วยนัยชี้ไปสู่พรหมัน ‘ด้าย’ นั้นคือด้ายแห่งพรหมัน และเรานั่นเองคือสิ่งนั้น ผู้รู้พึงละด้ายสามชั้น ผู้รู้ผู้เข้าใจดังนี้ เมื่อกล่าวสามครั้งว่า “ข้าพเจ้าละแล้ว ข้าพเจ้าละแล้ว ข้าพเจ้าละแล้ว” พึงมอบความไม่หวาดกลัวแก่สรรพสัตว์ จากเรา สรรพสิ่งทั้งปวงจึงดำเนินไป “โอ้สหาย เจ้าเป็นความปลดเปลื้อง เจ้าเป็นมิตร เจ้าเป็นวัชระของอินทร์ ผู้ฆ่าวฤตระ จงเป็นที่คุ้มครองแก่ข้า จงขจัดบาปทั้งปวง” ด้วยมนตร์นี้ให้ทำไม้เท้าไผ่และรับผ้าเตี่ยว พึงกินดุจยา กินตามที่ได้มา พรหมจรรย์ อหิงสา อปริครหะ และสัจจะ—จงพิทักษ์ด้วยความเพียร พิทักษ์ พิทักษ์

Indeed, from the indication of Brahman, the ‘thread’ is a Brahma-thread; I myself am that. The knower should abandon the threefold thread. The knower who thus understands, having said three times, “Renounced by me, renounced by me, renounced by me,” should grant fearlessness to all beings. From me everything proceeds. “O friend, you are the unyoking (release); you are a friend. You are Indra’s thunderbolt, the slayer of Vṛtra. Be protection for me; ward off whatever sin there is”—thus. With this mantra, having prepared a bamboo staff, he should take up a loincloth. He should practice eating as medicine; he should partake of food as medicine; he should eat according to what is obtained. Celibacy, non-violence, non-possessiveness, and truth—protect, protect, protect (these) with effort.
