उद्भाति स्थितिमाप्नोति तथा विलयमेति च । तल्लिंगं लिंगमित्याहुर्लयनात्तत्त्ववित्तमाः

udbhāti sthitimāpnoti tathā vilayameti ca | talliṃgaṃ liṃgamityāhurlayanāttattvavittamāḥ

มันปรากฏรุ่งเรือง บรรลุความตั้งมั่น และย่อมเข้าสู่การสลาย (ลยะ) ด้วย เหตุนั้นบัณฑิตผู้รู้ตัตตวะจึงเรียกมันว่า ‘ลึงค์’ เพราะเมื่อถึงคราวลยะ มันย่อมกลืนรวมสรรพสิ่งไว้ในตน
