तथा दृष्ट्वा कालनेमिस्तदानीं प्रहस्यमानोऽतिरुषा बलान्वितः । कस्त्वं महाभाग वरेण्यरूपः श्यामो युवा वारणमत्तविक्रमः । करे गृहीतं निशितं महाप्रभं चक्रं च कस्मात्कथयस्व मे प्रभो
tathā dṛṣṭvā kālanemistadānīṃ prahasyamāno'tiruṣā balānvitaḥ | kastvaṃ mahābhāga vareṇyarūpaḥ śyāmo yuvā vāraṇamattavikramaḥ | kare gṛhītaṃ niśitaṃ mahāprabhaṃ cakraṃ ca kasmātkathayasva me prabho
ครั้นเห็นดังนั้น กาลเนมิก็หัวเราะเยาะด้วยความเดือดดาลและกำลังอันแรงกล้า แล้วกล่าวว่า: “ท่านผู้มีบุญ ผู้มีรูปงามอันควรสรรเสริญ ท่านเป็นผู้ใด—กายสีคล้ำ เยาว์วัย กล้าหาญดุจช้างเมามัน? และเหตุใดจึงถือจักรอันคมกริบรุ่งเรืองนั้นไว้ในมือ? จงบอกข้ามาเถิด โอ้พระผู้เป็นเจ้า.”
