atha tānabhayaṃ dehi devīti bhayavihvalān | amarānvīkṣya sā devī kiṃ kāryamiti cābhyadhāt
Gaurī (Devī)
Tirtha: Aruṇācala
Type: kshetra
Listener: Purāṇic audience (sages)
Scene: The Goddess, serene in austerity, looks upon the frightened immortals and speaks: granting reassurance while asking, ‘What must be done?’
The compassionate Divine responds to sincere surrender by engaging directly: fearlessness arises when one turns toward Devī and states one’s need truthfully.
Aruṇācala, as the narrative stage for the devas’ appeal to Gaurī and her protective assurance.
A direct supplication for abhaya (fearlessness) is modeled; it functions as a devotional prayer rather than a formal ritual rule.
