ครั้นเห็นเงาตนบนผนังอันไร้มลทิน สตรีผู้หลงพิศวง—สงสัยว่าเป็นตนหรือผู้อื่น—อาจรีบรุดเข้าไปแม้ในภาพวาด คือหอภาพของตนเอง
