Viśvāmitra

Tirtha: Rambhā-śilā (implied petrification stone/spot)

Type: kund

Listener: Rambhā

Scene: Viśvāmitra pronounces the sentence: Rambhā is to become a stone at that very place for an immense span; yet the scene softens with the clause of eventual release under a brāhmaṇa’s protection—hinting at compassion amid severity. The transformation is envisioned as her form turning to stone while her ornaments fade into stillness.

FAQs

Even a curse can become a pathway to purification and eventual liberation; divine justice is portrayed as corrective, not merely punitive.

The verse does not name a tīrtha directly, though Setukhaṇḍa broadly relates to sacred geography associated with Setu/Rāmeśvaram traditions.

No explicit ritual is prescribed; it foretells deliverance through the protection/agency of a brāhmaṇa.
