जाबालोपनिषद्रीत्या तथा रुद्राक्षधारकः । एवमुग्रं तपश्चक्रे दशसंवत्सरं द्विजः

jābālopaniṣadrītyā tathā rudrākṣadhārakaḥ | evamugraṃ tapaścakre daśasaṃvatsaraṃ dvijaḥ

ตามข้อบัญญัติแห่งชาบาลอุปนิษัท เขายังสวมลูกประคำรุทรाक्षะด้วย ดังนี้พราหมณ์ผู้เกิดสองครั้งนั้นได้บำเพ็ญตบะอันเข้มข้นตลอดสิบปี
