śivatīrthasya māhātmyaṃ mayā proktaṃ vimuktidam | idaṃ paṭhansadā martyo duḥkhagrāmādvimucyate
Sūta
Tirtha: Śivatīrtha
Type: kshetra
Listener: Ṛṣis/śaunaka-ādi audience (standard Sūta frame; not named in this verse)
Scene: A sage or sūta recites the māhātmya to attentive listeners near a tīrtha pavilion; palm-leaf manuscript, rosary, and a distant glimpse of the shore shrine; the ‘village of sorrows’ dissolves as a dark haze lifting.
Regular recitation of sacred place-glories (māhātmya) is itself a dharmic practice that uproots suffering and leads toward liberation.
Śivatīrtha in the Setukhaṇḍa (Setu region) is explicitly praised.
Continuous recitation (sadā pāṭha/parāyaṇa) of the Śivatīrtha-māhātmya is recommended.
