Sthala Purana: In the Kāśī-centered teaching, ‘guru-ukti’ is upheld as the revealer (vyañjaka) and pramāṇa for the hidden brahma-tattva—mirroring Kāśī’s identity as a living seat of upadeśa where Viśveśvara grants liberating knowledge through instruction.
Significance: Affirms the necessity of guru-guided understanding for realizing Śiva as Brahman; supports pilgrimage as both outer darśana and inner śravaṇa–manana leading to clarity.
Role: teaching
It establishes Guru-upadeśa as the revealing light and reliable pramāṇa for realizing the hidden truth of the Supreme (Śiva as Brahman), emphasizing lived instruction over mere speculation.
In the Vidyeśvara context, the Guru’s guidance authorizes and clarifies right Śiva-upāsanā—how the devotee approaches Saguna Śiva (such as the Liṅga) as a doorway to realizing the Supreme tattva.
Seek Guru-upadeśa and repeatedly contemplate it—especially through japa and inner recollection—so practice is grounded in authentic instruction rather than self-made methods.
