Type: rudram
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It introduces Pārthiva (clay) Liṅga worship as a Veda-aligned Shaiva practice that harmonizes dharma, worldly well-being (bhukti), and final release (mukti), showing Shiva as both the giver of grace in life and the liberator beyond bondage.
By prescribing ‘pārthivārcā’—worship of a tangible Liṅga formed from earth—it affirms Saguna-upāsanā (worship with form) as a valid Vedic means to approach Shiva, through which the devotee is led toward the highest, transcendent realization.
It points to performing clay Liṅga worship strictly by Vedic procedure (mantra-guided arcana). While this verse does not name specific aids, such worship is typically paired with Shiva-mantra japa and disciplined observance consistent with Vaidika injunctions.
