Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Jyotirlinga: Viśvanātha
Sthala Purana: Within the Viśveśvarasaṃhitā’s Kāśī-centered frame, timing-precisions for vrata/pujā are taught as upāyas for the bound soul; the implied sacred field is Kāśī where Viśveśvara grants swift anugraha and liberation-oriented merit even through ancillary observances.
Significance: Merit, prosperity, and (in the Kāśī frame) Śiva’s special grace that ripens worldly welfare into liberation-oriented punya.
It teaches that Shiva-worship (vrata/pujā) becomes especially fruitful when aligned with auspicious tithi–nakṣatra–vāra combinations, indicating that disciplined devotion and right timing support dharma and sustained well-being over a year.
The verse prescribes an auspicious calendrical window for performing a Shiva observance—typically centered on Saguna Shiva worship through the Liṅga—where careful ritual alignment is said to amplify the merit and tangible results of devotion.
Perform a Shiva vrata/pujā on the specified day (Bhādrapada, Sunday, saptamī with Śravaṇā and Hasta conditions), ideally with Liṅga-abhiṣeka, japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), and offerings made with steady bhakti.
