Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Significance: Establishes correct naivedya-measure as part of śivapūjā-vidhi; accuracy in offering is treated as a limb of devotion that supports merit (puṇya) and eligibility for higher fruits.
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that devotion (bhakti) should be supported by disciplined observance—offering to Shiva with purity and proper order—so the worship becomes a deliberate, sattvic act rather than a casual habit.
In Saguna Shiva worship of the Linga, tangible offerings like naivedya are part of honoring the Lord as present and receivable; the verse standardizes the offering so the ritual remains consistent and reverent.
A practical puja takeaway is to offer simple, pure śāli-rice naivedya in a defined measure (kuḍava), maintaining niyama (ritual discipline) alongside mantra-japa such as the Panchakshara.
