शक्त्यादिसृष्टिनिरूपणम् / The Account of Creation Beginning with Śakti
महदादिविशेषांतं सृजतीत्यपि संमतम् । किं तु तत्रापि कर्तृत्वं नाव्यक्तस्य न चात्मनः
mahadādiviśeṣāṃtaṃ sṛjatītyapi saṃmatam | kiṃ tu tatrāpi kartṛtvaṃ nāvyaktasya na cātmanaḥ

Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
Cosmic Event: tattva-evolution (mahat → viśeṣa) framed with denial of independent agency to avyakta and bound self
The verse teaches discernment: although the cosmos appears to evolve from Mahat down to gross particulars, the ultimate Lord (Pati—Shiva) alone is truly sovereign; neither inert Prakriti (avyakta) nor the limited individual self is the final agent. This supports detachment, humility, and liberation-oriented knowledge.
Linga-worship anchors the mind in Shiva as the transcendent Lord who stands beyond the evolutes of Prakriti. By recognizing that neither matter nor the bound self is the real doer, the devotee turns from tattva-analysis to surrender and contemplation of Shiva—Saguna for worship, and Nirguna as the ultimate reality.
Practice japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with the contemplation “I am not the doer; Shiva is the Lord,” and offer actions mentally at the Linga. This verse especially supports meditation on non-doership (akartṛ-bhāva) alongside Shiva-bhakti.
