kaccidabhyarcya yuṣmābhirvidhirāsītsvanuṣṭhitaḥ | nivṛtte ca mahāsatre paścātkiṃ vaścikīrṣitam
Suta Goswami (narrative voice in the Purana, addressing the assembled sages)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Offering: naivedya
It emphasizes disciplined completion of prescribed worship and rites, then turning the mind toward the next purposeful step—ideally deeper Shaiva devotion and pursuit of liberation under Pati (Shiva), not mere ritual completion.
By asking whether worship was properly performed, the verse reflects the Purana’s stress on correct, reverent observance (vidhi) in Saguna worship—such as Linga-arcana—so that ritual becomes a vehicle for grace and inner purification.
The takeaway is adherence to vidhi in worship—regular arcana with purity and attention—followed by continued sadhana such as japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) as the ‘what next’ beyond a completed rite.
