The verse highlights a key Shaiva principle: sincere tapas (disciplined spiritual effort) culminates in anugraha (divine grace). Shiva affirms that when worship is genuine, the Divine responds by fulfilling what supports dharma and the cosmic order.
Though the verse speaks in a narrative voice, it reflects Saguna worship—devotion directed to a personal, responsive form of the Divine. In Shiva Purana practice, such devotion is commonly expressed through Linga-puja, where austerity, mantra, and offering invite Shiva’s and Shakti’s grace.
It points to tapas joined with devotion: steady japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), regular Linga-abhiṣeka, and disciplined vows (especially on Mahāśivarātri) as a practical way to seek divine favor and inner purification.
