Invocation of Vīrabhadra/Bhairava for Cosmic Reabsorption
svayaṃ vijñāpayāmāsa kimatra smṛtikāraṇam | ājñāpaya jagatsvāmin prasādaḥ kriyatāmmayi
Suta Goswami (narrating the dialogue; the verse quotes a devotee/supplicant addressing Lord Shiva as Jagatsvamin)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Role: liberating
It expresses śaraṇāgati (surrender): the devotee asks Shiva to reveal the inner cause behind remembrance and seeks prasāda, affirming that liberation and right understanding arise primarily through the Lord’s grace.
Addressing Shiva as “Jagatsvāmin” reflects Saguna devotion—approaching the Lord as the compassionate ruler who responds to prayer; in Linga-worship, this same attitude is central: offering, requesting guidance, and receiving prasāda.
A direct practice is humble verbal prayer before Shiva (at a Linga or in japa), followed by attentive listening for inner instruction—paired with Panchakshara japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as a concrete way to stabilize remembrance.
