Bāṇa’s Renewed Engagement in Battle
तदाहमशपं तं वै भुजच्छेत्ताऽऽगमिष्यति । अचिरेणातिकालेन गतगर्वो भविष्यसि
tadāhamaśapaṃ taṃ vai bhujacchettā''gamiṣyati | acireṇātikālena gatagarvo bhaviṣyasi
ดังนั้นข้าจึงสาปเขาว่า “ผู้ตัดแขนของเจ้าจักมาถึงแน่” ไม่นานนัก ไม่ต้องรอช้านาน; ความยโสของเจ้าจักพินาศ และเจ้าจักไร้โอหัง

It teaches that garva (ego-pride) inevitably collapses under the law of karma; in Shaiva thought, the fall of arrogance becomes a forced purification that turns the soul toward dharma and, ultimately, Shiva’s grace.
The verse contrasts human pride with the supremacy of Saguna Shiva who governs justice in the manifested world; Linga-worship cultivates surrender (śaraṇāgati) and dissolves ego, the very fault being condemned here.
A practical takeaway is daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with Tripuṇḍra-bhasma and a humility-vow (amanitva), consciously offering one’s pride into Shiva in meditation.
