Suta Goswami (narrating the battle account to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
It highlights śaraṇāgati (surrender): action becomes spiritually aligned when performed as Śiva’s command, reflecting devotion to Pati (Śiva) and the devotee’s willingness to act according to His guṇas and intent.
The verse emphasizes Saguna Śiva as the living Lord who commands and protects through His gaṇas; Linga-worship similarly trains the devotee to align thought and action with Śiva’s will rather than ego-driven effort.
A practical takeaway is to begin worship with sankalpa and japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), offering one’s actions to Śiva; this cultivates obedience to dharma and inner surrender, like acting under Śaṅkara’s command.
