It portrays Śiva as Paramātmā whose power (symbolized by the trident “Vijaya”) dispels ignorance and reveals the truth, shining through all realms—outer cosmos and inner consciousness.
Though describing a battle-weapon, the verse supports Saguna worship: Śiva’s manifest form and attributes (trident, radiance, victory) are contemplated as expressions of the same Supreme Reality revered in the Liṅga.
Meditate on Śiva’s trident as the remover of darkness—japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with the intention of inner illumination, and worship with dīpa (lamp) as a symbol of the light that pervades all directions.
