शङ्खचूडदूतागमनम् — The Arrival of Śaṅkhacūḍa’s Envoy
and Praise of Śiva
देहि राज्यं च देवानां मत्प्रीतिं रक्ष दानव । निजराज्ये सुखं तिष्ठ तिष्ठंतु स्वपदे सुराः
dehi rājyaṃ ca devānāṃ matprītiṃ rakṣa dānava | nijarājye sukhaṃ tiṣṭha tiṣṭhaṃtu svapade surāḥ
Lord Shiva (as the supreme arbiter granting order after the battle)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Role: teaching
The verse highlights Shiva as Pati (the Lord) who restores cosmic balance: divine grace is protected through obedience to dharma, and each being prospers by remaining within its rightful order rather than through unlawful conquest.
As Saguna Shiva, the compassionate ruler, he grants anugraha (favor) and sets boundaries that uphold harmony. Linga-worship similarly centers on surrender to Shiva’s governing intelligence and accepting his ordinance as the path to peace.
A practical takeaway is disciplined dharmic living supported by Shiva-bhakti: daily japa of the Panchākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with a prayer for Shiva’s prīti (grace) and the resolve to remain steady (tiṣṭha) in one’s rightful duties.
