Sanatkumara
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; it is a didactic narrative moment: Brahmā and Viṣṇu cease contention and submit to Śiva.
Significance: Teaches humility before the supreme Lord; pilgrimage/ritual fruit is implicit: surrender and reverence dissolve egoic rivalry and align one with dharma.
It highlights vinaya (humble surrender) before Pati—Lord Śiva—showing that even Brahmā and Viṣṇu become composed and reverent when they recognize Śiva’s supreme, grace-bestowing lordship.
The verse embodies the essential attitude of Saguna-Śiva worship: bowing (namaskāra) and folded hands (añjali). Such reverence is the inner form of approaching the Liṅga—meeting Śiva with devotion rather than ego or rivalry.
Practice añjali-mudrā with a sincere namaskāra to Śiva before japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” letting the mind ‘cease’ (virema) from agitation and rest in humility and devotion.
