(Devastuti) — Hymn/Praise of the Devas
brahmovāca | na bhetavyaṃ surāstebhyo dānavebhyo viśeṣataḥ | ācakṣe tadvadhopāyaṃ śivaṃ śarvaḥ kariṣyati
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Mantra:
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
The verse teaches śaraṇāgati (refuge) in Pati, Lord Śiva: when adharmic forces rise, the Devas are told to abandon fear and rely on Śiva’s sovereign grace, which restores cosmic order and inner steadiness.
Śarva is invoked as the personal, Saguna Lord who actively protects devotees and upholds dharma; Linga-worship embodies this same protective presence—approached with trust rather than anxiety.
A practical takeaway is fear-transformation through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and remembrance of Śiva as Śarva, coupled with simple Śaiva observances like applying tripuṇḍra-bhasma as a sign of taking refuge in Śiva.
