Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: Not tied to a Jyotirliṅga site; the verse stresses Śiva as dharma itself and as Veda-knowable, aligning with the image of Śiva as the supreme teacher and revealer of śāstra.
Significance: Supports śāstra-bhakti: approaching Śiva through Vedic revelation and dhārmic living, culminating in anugraha (right knowledge and purification).
Mantra: धर्मरूपाय सत्त्वाय नमस्सत्त्वात्मने हर । वेदवेद्यस्वरूपाय नमो वेदप्रियाय च
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
The verse identifies Shiva (Hara) as the very embodiment of Dharma and the pure sattvic principle, teaching that devotion to Shiva refines the seeker’s nature toward purity, ethical order, and liberation-oriented clarity.
By praising Shiva as Vedavedya (known through Vedic revelation) and as Dharma-svarūpa, the verse supports Saguna worship—approaching Shiva through name, form, and hymn—while pointing to His deeper tattva that the Vedas indicate beyond mere outer symbols, including Linga worship.
A practical takeaway is sattva-śuddhi through japa and stotra: recite such salutations (optionally alongside the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), maintaining dharmic conduct as the supporting discipline for Shiva-bhakti.
