Suta Goswami (narrating the scene of the devas addressing a great sage)
Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights humility (vinaya) and surrender: even powerful devas must bow and seek right counsel. In Shaiva thought, grace and right knowledge arise when ego yields before dharma and the guidance that ultimately leads to Shiva’s refuge.
The verse models the devotional posture that supports Saguna Shiva worship—reverence, prostration, and heartfelt petition. Such humility is the inner prerequisite for fruitful Linga-puja, where the devotee approaches Shiva through disciplined devotion rather than mere power.
The takeaway is guru-vandana and pranama before prayer: begin worship with respectful bowing and a focused mind. Practically, one may precede japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with a moment of surrender and reverence, optionally with Tripundra (bhasma) and calm seated posture.
