शिवतत्त्ववर्णनम् (Śiva-tattva-varṇana) — “Description/Exposition of the Principle of Śiva”
stuto'haṃ yattvayā viṣṇo brahmaṇā me'vatāraṇe | prārthanāṃ tāṃ kariṣyāmi satyāṃ yadbhaktavatsalaḥ
Lord Shiva (Rudra/Sadāśiva speaking in the creation narrative)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Cosmic Event: theogonic manifestation of Rudra within the creation narrative
It highlights Śiva’s anugraha (grace): when approached with sincere stuti (praise) and bhakti, the Pati (Lord) responds by making the devotee’s prayer “satyā”—certain to be fulfilled.
In creation narratives, Śiva accepts approachable, saguna modes for the welfare of devotees; this verse frames that manifestation as a compassionate response to devotion—supporting Linga worship as a concrete focus for prayer and grace.
Offer stuti and japa with a bhakti-intent—especially Panchākṣarī japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—as a direct way to place one’s prārthanā before the Bhakta-vatsala Śiva.
