Role: liberating
This verse highlights a graded transmission of Shaiva mantras—especially Mṛtyuñjaya and the Pañcākṣarī—presented as direct means for protection, purification, and liberation under Śiva’s grace (Pati), loosening the bonds (pāśa) that bind the soul (paśu).
These mantras are traditionally applied in Saguna Śiva worship—especially in liṅga-pūjā—where japa and abhiṣeka are performed with mantra to invoke Śiva’s saving presence as Mṛtyuñjaya and His revealing wisdom as Dakṣiṇāmūrti.
Regular mantra-japa of the Pañcākṣarī and Mṛtyuñjaya—ideally alongside liṅga worship, vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) application, and Rudrākṣa dhāraṇa—aligns the mind toward Śiva and supports protection and mokṣa-oriented devotion.
