Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana is grounded in inner and outer purity; restraining abusive speech is part of yama-like discipline that makes bhakti toward Saguna Shiva steady and worthy, rather than agitated by anger and scandal.
Practice vāṅ-niyama (discipline of speech): recite the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” before speaking in anger, and adopt a daily vow of gentle speech alongside bhasma and rudrākṣa observances if followed in one’s tradition.
