It teaches that adharma breaks śraddhā (trust) and severs one’s worldly support; in Shaiva thought, ethical restraint is a necessary foundation for bhakti and inner purity that leads toward grace (anugraha).
Linga worship is upheld by śraddhā and right conduct; when misconduct spreads, faith and patronage decline, weakening one’s capacity to maintain disciplined devotion to Saguna Shiva through daily pūjā.
A practical takeaway is to restore conduct through regular japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with vows of truthful speech and restraint, so that devotion is supported by dhārmic living.
