Devas’ Hymn: Śiva as Parabrahman, Māyā-Śakti, and Giver of Karmic Fruits
bhavatānugrahītānāṃ devādīnāṃśca sarvaśaḥ | ārogyaṃ bhagnagātrāṇāṃ śaṃkara tvāyudhāśmabhiḥ
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Satīkhaṇḍa account to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Role: nurturing
It highlights Śiva’s anugraha (grace) as the true source of restoration—health and wholeness arise when the Pati (Lord) removes affliction and re-establishes dharma for the devas and all beings.
The verse addresses Śaṅkara directly as an active, compassionate protector—Saguna Śiva who responds to prayer. Linga-worship similarly approaches Śiva as present and accessible, bestowing ārogya and protection through devotion.
A practical takeaway is to pray for ārogya while chanting the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and offering bilva leaves; one may also apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) as a Shaiva reminder of Śiva’s protective grace.
