दक्षयज्ञे सत्या अपमानबोधः — Satī Encounters Disrespect at Dakṣa’s Sacrifice
भागानपश्यद्देवानां हर्यादीनां तदध्वरे । न शंभुभागमकरोत् क्रोधं दुर्विषहं सती
bhāgānapaśyaddevānāṃ haryādīnāṃ tadadhvare | na śaṃbhubhāgamakarot krodhaṃ durviṣahaṃ satī
พระสตีเห็นว่าในยัญญานั้น เหล่าเทพ—พระหริและอื่น ๆ—ได้รับส่วนบูชาของตน แต่หาได้กำหนดส่วนใดให้พระศัมภูไม่ ครั้นเห็นการหมิ่นประมาทนั้น พระสตีก็ถูกความพิโรธอันยากทานทนเข้าครอบงำ

The verse shows that ritual success is not merely procedural—when the Supreme Pati (Śiva) is excluded through ego and disrespect, the rite becomes spiritually hollow. Satī’s “unbearable wrath” reflects dharmic outrage at denying Śiva’s rightful place as the inner Lord of sacrifice.
It reinforces that honoring Śiva in a tangible, devotional way (Saguna worship such as Liṅga-pūjā) is essential, because Śiva is the indwelling reality behind all offerings. Dakṣa’s omission symbolizes rejecting Śiva’s presence, whereas Liṅga worship centers the rite on Śiva as the receiver and sanctifier of worship.
The takeaway is to begin worship with Śiva-smaraṇa and mantra—especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—so actions do not become prideful ritualism. Maintaining reverence (bhakti) and offering everything to Śiva inwardly is the corrective discipline implied by the narrative.
