It highlights Śiva’s lordship over the mind: even when desire arises, He remains self-contained and governed by satya (truth) and dharma, teaching devotees inner mastery and steadfastness in vows.
Saguna Śiva is portrayed as the compassionate Lord who models disciplined conduct; in Linga-worship, devotees contemplate this purity and restraint—approaching the Linga with truthfulness, self-control, and sincere bhakti.
A practical takeaway is satya-vrata (truth-observance) with japa of the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” supported by calm breath and sense-restraint—ideally combined with simple Mahāśivarātri-style discipline (fasting/light diet and focused worship).
