Sūta Gosvāmī (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: nurturing
It highlights Śiva as Pati—the benevolent Lord who acts for the devotee’s true good: even when He appears to refuse a worldly request, His inner resolve (His pledge) remains compassionate and aligned with dharma and the soul’s upliftment.
The verse presents Saguna Śiva as relational and responsive—He listens, protects, and guides. Linga worship trains the devotee to trust this divine governance: Śiva’s outward actions may test patience, while His grace and promise operate subtly for the devotee’s welfare.
Practice vow-based devotion (vrata) with steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and cultivate surrender (śaraṇāgati), accepting delays or denials as Śiva’s compassionate shaping of one’s path.
