The Manifestation/Arising of Kāma
etacchaṃbhuḥ purovāca bhaktavaryāya viṣṇave | pṛṣṭastena mahābhaktyā paropakṛtaye mune
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse highlights Śiva as the compassionate Pati (Lord) who reveals sacred teaching when approached with mahābhakti, and it frames that knowledge as meant for paropakāra—uplifting others, not merely personal gain.
By presenting Viṣṇu as the foremost devotee receiving instruction directly from Śambhu, the verse supports Saguna Śiva worship as a legitimate means of approaching the Lord—devotion invites revelation, which later grounds practices like Linga-pūjā in right understanding.
The implied practice is bhakti-centered listening (śravaṇa) and remembrance (smaraṇa) of Śiva’s teachings, undertaken with the intention of paropakāra; this aligns naturally with japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and sharing dharma for others’ benefit.
