Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse narrates Viṣṇu’s return to his abode and the deliberate concealment of an event, functioning as a narrative instance of ‘tirodhāna’ (veiling).
The verse highlights that divine events are not always publicly disclosed; in Shaiva understanding, the Lord’s līlā can be veiled, and its deeper meaning is revealed through grace, devotion, and right understanding rather than mere outward celebration.
By noting that an episode was ‘concealed,’ the text points to the Purāṇic method: inner truth is accessed through sacred narration and worship. Linga/Saguṇa-Śiva worship trains the devotee to look beyond external appearances and approach the hidden reality of Pati (Śiva) through bhakti and ritual purity.
The practical takeaway is disciplined, discreet devotion: daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and simple Śiva-pūjā (with bhasma/Tripuṇḍra where appropriate) to cultivate inner receptivity to the ‘hidden’ meaning of scripture.
