Tattva Level: pashu
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga passage; it characterizes Dakṣa’s offspring as Veda-aligned, foreshadowing tension between ritual orthopraxy and Śiva-bhakti later in the Satī narrative.
Role: teaching
It upholds dharma as lived character: steadiness in Vedic discipline and sincere devotion in one’s duties. In Shaiva understanding, such ordered life purifies the pashu (bound soul) and prepares it for Shiva-bhakti and liberating knowledge.
By praising Veda-mārga and disciplined virtue, the verse frames proper conduct as the foundation for Saguna Shiva worship (including Linga-pūjā). Right conduct and devotion steady the mind, making ritual worship fruitful rather than merely external.
The takeaway is nitya-niyama: daily Vedic-aligned discipline—truthfulness, purity, reverence to elders/teachers—alongside regular Shiva worship such as japa of the Panchākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and simple Linga-pūjā according to one’s capacity.
